A resignation is one of the hardest responsibilities for people to follow through with verbally or with a written document.  Over a period, you have built trust, loyalty and feel guilty you are going to let your manager and the company down.

A resignation letter is a formal document advising your manager you are providing notice and moving to a new organisation. The letter is simple, but positive and will consist of the reason you are leaving, your notice period, when your last day will be and thanking them for their time and support. The notice period required by an employer will depend on your specific role but will generally be 4 weeks. You will need to check your company policy, employment contract or award to find out how many weeks’ notice you need to give upon resignation.

All resignation letters are different this is a basic guideline of what to expect.
